Celestron 120mm f/8.33 Omni XLT Refractor OTA

Mount Celestron's 120mm (4.72”) Omni XLT Refractor OTA to either an equatorial or alt-azimuth mount and you will gain a superior telescope to explore the Solar System or delving into deep space. With a nearly 5” aperture that gathers almost 300X that of the human eye, you’ll be able to see faint details. Check out the Andromeda Galaxy, the wispy structure of the Orion Nebula, or the Great Red Spot on Jupiter! The Moon will simply blow you away, and the rings of Saturn will be a sight you’ll never forget!

If you choose to mount this telescope on a simple alt-azimuth mount and add an erect-image diagonal, you’ll have a very powerful terrestrial scope that can also be used for nighttime viewing. For those with a view, the Celestron 120mm refractor will provide stunning images of wildlife, ships at sea, or other interesting daytime subjects. If you add a safe, properly sized solar filter (contact us for options) to the front of your scope, you can observe sunspots and safely watch solar eclipses! This telescope is truly a flexible instrument.

The Celestron 120mm Omni XLT Refractor OTA sports quality optics that are fully coated with Celestron's famous StarLight XLT coatings. These optical coatings are used on Celestron's observatory-grade telescopes as well and will help ensure crisp views and maximum light transmission on your Omni 120.

The smooth, easily adjustable 2" rack and pinion focuser on the Omni 120 accepts both 2" and 1.25" accessories. The telescope includes a 1.25" star diagonal and a 25 mm eyepiece that will provide 40X magnification in a 50-degree field of view. We recommend you obtain a few more eyepieces to provide a choice of magnifications when viewing celestial, or terrestrial objects.

You can find those objects more easily with the included 6x30 optical finderscope. As its name suggests, this monocular-styled finder provides a low power, 6X magnification to easily locate and center objects in your eyepiece.

The included tube rings come with a Vixen-style dovetail, which will allow you to easily mount the Celestron Omni 120 refractor on a wide variety of mounts. If you have a mount that you’re not sure of, feel free to contact High Point and we will be happy to help.

    About Celestron Refractor Telescopes

Celestron’s high-quality refractor telescopes allow beginners to improve upon Galileo’s vision with a simple, reliable design that is easy to use, requires minimal maintenance, and is versatile enough for land or sky viewing. Known for viewing planetary detail and splitting close double-stars.

A refractor telescope uses a lens as the primary. The lens at the front of the telescope bends the light passing through it until it comes to a single point called the “focal plane”. The long, thin tubes of refractor telescopes look much the same as those Galileo used centuries ago. High-quality optical glass and multi-coatings provide today’s skywatchers views Galileo never dreamed of.

The refractor type of telescope is very popular with individuals who want mechanical simplicity, rugged reliability, and ease of use. Because the focal length is limited by the length of the tube, refractor telescopes become quite bulky and expensive beyond a four-inch aperture. This limits the light gathering properties of refractor telescopes, but it is an excellent choice for beginners and those who prefer simple operation and versatility. Refractor telescopes are also a popular choice because of their unobstructed view, high contrast and good definition.
